There's an old saying that goes, "Good fences make good neighbors." Robert Frost used it in his poem, "Mending Wall" way back in 1914. The sentiment probably goes back much much further than
that. The Holy Bible mentions both walls and landmarks. That predates Robert Frost by more than a
To me, a wall outlines what is mine. By doing so, it also shows that which is not mine. Clearly this is a good thing. My neighbor can fully enjoy the land of his possession without encroaching upon what is clearly mine. Used thusly, good fences actually do make good neighbors. On his side of the fence, my neighbor can mow his grass as short as he likes. On my side, I can plant apple trees so I don't have a
lot of bare space to mow. Everyone is happy.
Now suppose, just suppose, that in harvest time, my neighbor crosses over my wall to steal my apples. He didn't plant those apple trees. He didn't water them, fertilize them or prune them. Laughing to himself, watching my hard labor and sweat, he knew in his black heart what he intended to do when the time was right. Yet, he has the audacity to pick my apples for himself. Clearly he is in the wrong, for he left his area of control and resposibility and violated my home. In the eyes of the just, he is a criminal.
Now consider the illegal immigrants flooding into the United States of America. Many come seeking
not what they can contribute to this country, but what they can get. Some come in gangs to rape and plunder. Others seek to defraud our welfare system or take advantage of our healthcare system. Some come to birth their babies on our American soil, to anchor their claim to be here. This too, is wrong and criminal. It must stop.
Our politicians are in office to protect our land, the United States of America. Those in office who consider illegal foreign intruders to have greater worth than American citizens must be removed
from office. It is time to protect American citizens from illegal foreign intruders. Build the wall.
Let our neighbors fix their own problems. We have enough of our own. Hey, we're neighbors. Ask for help if you need it. However, do not ask that we solve your problems for you by destroying our own
land. Again, it is time to build the wall. Get rid of any politician who says differently.
